Japanese Sub Attacks Along the California Coast During WWII

  • Osher Marin Jewish Community Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Did you know that the west coast was crawling with Japanese submarines in the weeks following the attack on Pearl Harbor? They not only sunk a number of merchant vessels, but shelled the American mainland on more than one occasion. John J. Geoghegan, former “New York Times,” Special Correspondent, and author of Operation Storm: Japan’s Top Secret Plan to Change the Course of World War II, will teach a lavishly illustrated course about this fascinating but little known period of American history. Based on interviews he conducted with the Japanese officers and crew who patrolled the California coast, Mr. Geoghegan’s 90 minute course provides a unique perspective on World War II—the enemies. Register online at the Osher Jewish Community Center in San Rafael, CA: https://www.marinjcc.org/
