Early the morning of August 16, 1942, the L-8, a U.S. Navy blimp, took off from Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay with two men on board. It's mission? To hunt for Japanese submarines sinking merchant ships off the coast of California. Five hours later, the L-8 makes an unscheduled landing just south of San Francisco with no crew onboard. The two men had simply vanished. This 30 minute talk, illustrated with photos and film clips, explores the mystery of what happened to the crew of the L-8. Since this event is hosted by the San Francisco branch of the Naval Order of the United States reservations/tickets are required. For more information click here.
