Located in Marin County, California, The SILOE Research Institute was established in 2009 as a non-partisan think tank for conducting research into a variety of topics related to science, exploration, engineering and invention. Our reports on White Elephant Technology (unusual inventions that fail in the marketplace despite their innovative nature, or WETECH for short), have appeared in numerous publications including the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and Smithsonian Air & Space magazine. Among the institute’s core beliefs is that failure is worthy of study because it is the purest expression of the human condition.
